Stone Carving Course
30 June - 3 July 2012
On this four-day
course you will be given an introduction to the types of stone
available for carving, design and sculpt a piece of limestone using
direct carving methods. You will be instructed in the use of
traditional hand tools, rasps, wet-and-dry sanding papers and
polishing methods to produce your sculpture.
This course is
suitable for beginners and those with some experience. It will be
limited to just six participants.
TUTOR: KEVIN BLOCKLEY is a professional archaeologist
specialising in cathedrals and churches who has been sculpting stone
since 1994. His work
has included commissions for carved standing stones in Llanidloes,
memorial stones, and a recent exhibition of microscopic forms -
art of the invisible.
Teaching
is from 10 am Saturday - 4 pm Tuesday
